A Kentucky hospital owned by Catholic Health Initiatives is facing a lawsuit, alleging doctors there performed unnecessary heart surgeries.


It's not the first time Catholic Health Initiatives has faced allegations like this.

Wouldn't surprise me if this isn't occuring at many places. Medicare fraud is all over from a simple visit a doctor can bill to this.

It's been going on in every state for decades. People should never take the opinion of one doctor. Insurance companies allow you to get second and third opinions.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the doctor recommended I have a double mastectomy.

Second opinion: no mastectomy needed. Doctor confirmed that a double was extremely radical and unnecessary. I was at the very beginning of Stage 1 and only needed radiation and medication. Double mastectomy would mean my having implants (corrective surgery) - which meant more money - all covered by my medical insurance.
