Never see a penny they don't want to spend. Last I knew the "cost of wars" was never even included in the budget to begin with. At least that's what the left handers would always squeal about Bush. Speaking of budgets when will we ever get one? It's been what three years now? Pay down the debt? Nah that makes no sense. Spend.......Spend.........Spend!!!!!!

"Democrats on the supercommittee have proposed that the savings from the end of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan be used to pay for a new stimulus package, according to a summary of the $2.3 trillion plan obtained by The Hill."

A large segment of the war spending is pay for soldiers, who will still continue to be paid whether or not we are in a war. Somehow that point fails to be made when lambasting the costs of war.

I suggest using it to repair our infrastructure and replace our fossil fuel electric generation with modern nuclear gas cooled reactor technology. We could do this by building plowshares instead of swords. We need a military big enough to defend us but not so big it looks for trouble to justify its existence.

When I read that the Dems want to count the savings from the wars for 10 years I lost interest in anything in that article. How in hell do you save money not spent in a war for 10 years. One year, yep, 10 years, nope. They use that kind of reasoning to fool we the fools and it works on many of us. I am not one of them. I just don't understand how people can be stupid enough to be taken advantage of when politicians talk in decade terms. How many of them will still be around that long? The need to operate in terms of one year at a time.

Those people you suggest must be paid sign up for from 3 to 6 year periods and can be released at the end of their enlistment periods. Just think how many jobs these pols will need to create to give those guys jobs when they are released.

We don't have the money. Yes, we need to save money on war/defense spending and evey other possible area (as long as our country does not become vulnerable). However, that doesn't mean we have the money to spend elsewhere.

What part of $15 Trillion in debt with approx. $70 Trillion in toxic assets on the books (and being shifted to depositor/FDIC liabilities) means we have extra money floating about for taxpayer funded "infrastructure" projects ?

STOP the SPENDING! Or, go the way of Greece and Italy.
