Agreed. Cut it ALL!

The money Egypt, Israel & Jordan gets is not aid. It is a peace payoff brokered by the US and thanks to Bush it cannot be cut until 2018. USAID is a payment point, but really has nothing to do with it. But with all the money that is spent on these three countries due to the treaty, do you really think the US gov't doesn't get some paybacks? An example is when the Suez Canal usually gets shut down to all traffic so US warships can pass through it.

Treaty can be cancelled by the president even without congressional approval. Goldwater v. Carter 1979. We don't have to wait until 2018.

And whe've seen what happens to a US President, and his party, when he does something to a Middle Eastern country: Political Suicide.

Default focus further upstream

Suggest we focus futher upstream and not send more money to the US government, whose treaury dept is headed by a tax cheat. That would address the money sent to Egypt and else where as well as losses from Solyndra type investments of taxpayer money by adled bureaucrats hand picked by the current president who has demonstrated an intentional path of economic destruction.

The U.S Should Stop Sending Money To Egypt...that's what the average citizen on the street of Egypt says. They say they do not see one dime of the money in what its use was intended. They would be very grateful if the money the U.S. sent, they actually got to use it.

We stopped sending money to Egypt when Mubarak fell. The money we sent to Egypt in the past was never intended as development aid, but as military aid.

Instead of sending it to Egypt, we are sending more to Israel. In 2012 we will send more money to Israel than ever before, well over 3 billion dollars

Happy?

It was a huge mistake to support the Arab Spring.
Well hold on a minute... what was the alternative in the case of Egypt? Do you really think we should or could have propped up a cancer-stricken 83-year-old dictator who was unsuccessfully trying to pass power to his widely-reviled son?

How would that have worked?

That would be pure speculation to try and answer that question. What we see though that is going on---the alternative to Mubarak how's that working out for 'em? The citizens are not seeing any of the aid we are sending them.

"In the three decades Mubarak ruled over the Arab world’s most populous state—a nation in which most Egyptians have an unfavorable view of America and would welcome an Islamic influence over the government—Mubarak managed to suppress religious extremism domestically while advancing the interests of the U.S. abroad." from April 2011 Betrayed | theTrumpet.com by the Philadelphia Church of God

What that got him was ousted by our government.

Now I got to ask, if the shoe was on the other foot and America was having a similar problem, would we really welcome outside assistance? Or would we tell the other countries, it's none of your business? Don't send money, don't send troops...

Had to add from link:

"After Mubarak

In the days that followed Mubarak’s resignation, a massive wave of instability and violence swept across North Africa and the Middle East. Deadly clashes erupted in Iran, Libya, Yemen and Bahrain.

Since we are talking about Middle East peace treaties, I don't think that anyone in the American government wants to cancel these treaties.
