Title says it all. Provide recent, real-world examples please, to prove it.

Probably about equal.

Some examples:

Nanny left - smoking bans and other restrictions on personal freedom, more regulations on business, higher taxes (taking away the freedom to spend your money how you see fit), wanting to ban gun ownership, etc.

Religious right - gay marriage bans, blue laws banning alcohol sales on Sundays, gambling bans, wanting to ban abortion, etc.

I'd say the far right.

You cannot get more personal than to define which consenting adults can get married.

It depends on how one defines freedom....

I hate these threads. The liberals simply come on here and say conservatives restrict personal liberties and the conservatives complain about liberals restricting economic liberties and gun rights. It becomes a tit for tat and no political discourse ever really occurs. Nothing gets accomplished except those of left and center and those right of center on this forum grow further and further apart from the divisiveness.

I suppose so but I do have a point. By requesting real world examples I hope that a fairly overwhelming case can be made one way or the other.

I don't think it can...

As theliberalvoice pointed out, different people will define freedom differently. Different people will weigh different restrictions as impacting their freedom more.

Not to mention that each of the two groups mentioned actually has restricting certain freedoms as a main goal (not because they want to restrict freedom per se, but because they simply feel that people shouldn't do certain things). We could go on and on listing each restricted freedom or each freedom each group "wishes" to restrict.

Both "wings" are active in taking freedoms away when "the republic" isn't monitoring the checks and balances.

What's more personal and intrusive than redefining marriage for those already married?

Yep it is equal. Both sides are control freaks who like to point the finger at the other side. when they do the same only with different issues.
