Wisconsin Gov (for now) Scott Walker announced a new policy that would charge any group of four or more who dared to exercise their First Amendment right to assemble, by making them pay a prohibitively expensive "permit fee" up front. Supposedly, the fee is to cover the costs of police, fire, and clean-up. But it's actual, shameful intent- to discourage dissent by the 99%- is quite obvious. Fortunately, like so many other new Winger State initiatives, this directive is unconstitutional on its face.

Is THAT the best ALEC could come up with in response to the Middle Class Revolt??? Those guys are charging the GOP too much!

Excuse me, Scotty, but WE THE PEOPLE already paid for those services once. No double billing! Maybe your BFFs the Koch Bros will pick up the tab on behalf of the Oligarchy, for repressing your constituants righteous fury .

The longer this guy hangs around, the more like a banana republic dictator he acts.

Meanwhile, the recall drive has collected half the required sigs months ahead of schedule. Bub-by Scottie

I didn't realize Wisconsin was a "Winger State." Did I miss something?

Regarding the permit, i've always considered permits and fees to be a challenge to our freedoms. But since they are commonplace nationwide, I don't really see too much issue with this.

no its not. The Supreme Court is VERY CLEAR that government can charge "reasonable fees" for permits. its been this way since the 1930's..

Why do libeals ALWAYS get these things wrong and know so very little about the laws of the nation in which you live?

The way I see it, if they're gonna camp out, then they should have to pay for a permit. Protests are one thing, Occupy ____ is literally setting up camp in a public space that other people can no longer enjoy because their tents and equipment are everywhere

Walker is looking like a dead duck. It's pretty telling he knows he can't win a free, fair, and open election on the recall because he's trying to prevent legal voters from voting, mailing out fliers with fake polling stations and the wrong election date, he's trying to change the number of voting locations to eliminate polling stations in areas which don't support him, and just generally attempting to suppress the vote in areas where people don't support him. That more then anything else proves to me that he's a terrible person and doesn't believe in democracy so the sooner he's gone the better.

So you obviously don't believe that freedom should be free.

Ask any liberal what America should be, and he'll chew your ear off. Ask him what's wrong with America, and he'll offer you a reading list. But ask him what America is-- besides a massive social service center or a collection of war crimes and corporations, and he'll have no real answers and just go to the liberal handbook and deflect as usual.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
