Actually Germany could have conducted Operation Sealion (the invasion of England) if not for two mistakes by Hitler. The slow caution rolling up of the British expeditionary force which allowed them time to escape at Dunkirk was the first mistake. Then when the bombing campaign had the British air force on its last legs he diverted to hitting civilian targets (the Blitz) in response to an off-target mistake by a British night bomber that hit a german population center instead of its intended military target.
Had those two mistakes not happened then the invasion of England would have taken place and the war in the West would have ended quickly therafter. With that accomplished it is unlikely the US would have even been involved in the war. Certainly the Americna people would not have gone to war to save the Soviets.

Ha! The British were hitting civilian targets right from the start and barely made a pretense of not doing so.

BRIA 18 2 c The Debate Over Hawaii and an American Overseas Empire - Constitutional Rights Foundation
By 1842, the United States had developed regular diplomatic relations with Hawaii and supported its status as an independent country. After King David Kalakaua ascended the throne in 1874, Hawaii and the United States signed a trade agreement lifting some restrictions on exporting Hawaiian sugar to the United States. In addition, this agreement permitted the United States to lease a naval station at Pearl Harbor.
