He wants the Iraq war to go on forever and ever and ever. Thankfully many Americans disagree

If he hadn't selected Palin as a running mate, he could well be the Prez right now. I was ready to vote for him until then, and I suspect there were a lot of others just like me.

mccain was not going to win or lose the election because of his choice of running mate. he lost that election because of his going along with the tarp bailout, and not distancing himself from bush.

Actually I think he gained votes because of her, mostly males. I know alot of guys who were enamored by her. They weren't thinking with their brains if you know what I mean. What I think lost it for him was his flip-flopping on issues and his arrogance after he picked her. All this aside, I am glad he did not win because Iam certain we would be at war with Iran right now if he had.

I know this is the standard line now ... Palin derailed him... but I don't think it's true. Palin was McCain's hail Mary pass. He wouldn't have thrown it if he didn't already know the *** was up. No Republican was going to win in 2008. No Democrat was going to lose. That explains why the 2008 Republican field was so weak, but how do you account for this 2012 Republican field?

I suspect the GOP has thrown in the towel for 2012. Obama is doing all the bidding for the banks and big corporations, no reason for them to bankroll a GOP opponent, Obama is their man.

you are right that picking palin to run with him helped his campaign because it was a bold move. but mccain lost the election again because of his support for the tarp bailouts. had mccain gone back to congress and opposed tarp, and distanced himself from bush, he might have won the 2008 election.

as for the 2012 field, the jury is still out. remember that the 1980 republican field was also considered weak.
