Didn't Obama support the bailout. McCain was never liked by the conservative wing of the GOP. He had lackluster support from the GOP base This is probably why he brought in crazy Palin.

as for the 2012 field, the jury is still out. remember that the 1980 republican field was also considered weak.
There is absolutely nothing no Republican could have done to win. And there is very little any Democrat could have done to lose. 2008 was going to be a Democratic blow out no matter who ran against whom.

Really? I had read last week that the Goldman Sachs money had shifted to Romney. Of course they'll get the same bidding and warmongering with less vitrol towards capitalism with Romney. Progressives are all about big government. Right now war secures big government.

I just wonder why we can't agree that the War in Iraq being over, is a good thing.

It's good for now, florida, but without a major reversal of our foreign policy, we'll be back. Obama had a historic opportunity to completely change course on our policy toward the Middle East. He had the support of the American people behind him. He failed to do so. His failure will leave us weaker in the long run.

i disagree. had mccain full distanced himself from bush, opposed tarp, and pushed for true fiscal responsibility, i think he could have wont eh 2008 election. his problem is that he was much the same as bush, and therefore was never going to win the election.

i agree that ending the iraq war is a good thing. i also agree that pulling our troops out completely and letting the iraqis take over the security of their country is also a good thing. what i was always against was advertising the pull out timeline publicly.

By "completely change course of our policy toward the Middle East", do you mean actually establishing one? Personally, I think that is a good idea to have one again. It had been lost for a decade.

What are you talking about? The only thing embarrassing here is that you started a thread about a topic and didn't explain what the heck you're talking about.
