Imagine the profit margarine from bootlegging! I'm udderly amazed at the prices in Norway. I'm sure some store owners are milking it for all it's worth.
I totally get the tendency for people to not take this seriously, because hell -- it's just butter, right? I mean ha ha butter!! All kinds of bad jokes just waiting to be made right? Is anybody looking at this with the understanding that it IS a type of FOOD SHORTAGE with it's RESULTANT INFLATION? What if instead of butter, it was one of our major cereal grains or some vital food staple? What if a loaf of bread was 80 dollars?
Honestly, when I clicked on this link, THAT'S what I thought was going to be discussed. You know, the BIGGER PICTURE and WHAT THIS ALL MEANS. What I didn't expect was to see the posts of many decent CD'ers to degenerate to something that looks a bunch of Beavises and Buttheads going "duuuuuhhhh!! Hyuk hyuk butter!!! Duhhh hurrr duuurrrrr!!!"
What other instances of food shortages and absurd levels of inflation are going on right now?
Is there a single person that felt a sense of alarm when they saw prices of over 400 dollars a pound for butter?
What are the foods that will not escalate in price - if any?
What do do or how do we prepare for these times, and just when will all this stuff come down?

Does anyone here see an opportunity... I make my own butter with whipping cream and a kitchen aid mixer... Our new big export perhaps?
