Really? We're gonna start doing things in America simply because the "majority" thinks it's ok?

That's a pretty dangerous path to tread down. The majority of Americans are for a whole lot of stupid things that make no sense. What if the majority decided that we should start euthanizing old people. Is that ok?

I think the question is if you're going to allow it for one religion, then there should be no issue with allowing other faiths to have their own plates. I don't see what being a majority has to do with that.

Not exactly

Motorists who choose to buy the plate pay a surcharge, which is divided between the state and the sponsoring group -- in the case of Calvary Hill, a Christian-based youth anti-gang ministry in the east Texas city of Nacogdoches.

Other religions can indeed ask for special plates to be made. Locally we have them for libraries, the zoo, and other causes peope believe in.

I see no violation of the seperation and Church and State so long as a person has to pay for and request these tags. I would like to se them offer the same to all religious beliefs.

It's a bit murky. Is there a governmental nexus if it's just a means for the individual to express their religious views?

If they really do permit this and provide it for all major religions then it might be OK. If they have even a whiff of a disparate standard, though...

Tell you what,....all of you that don't want to purchase this plate,....don't buy it. Instead, buy a University of Texas Longhorn license plate. By your logic, buying a Texas University license plate indicates that the state government supports ONLY Texas University,...and no others.

Who cares if anyone wants to advertise their phoniness with a religious oriented license plate on their car?

Yup, Texas is not alone in this. In Georgia, license plates generally carry a sticker at the bottom that designates the county in which the car is registered. For a surcharge, people can purchase a sticker that reads "In God We Trust." Smartly enough, such a sticker does not necessarily endorse the Christian faith exclusively but encompasses many religions.

At this point, these stickers mainly seem to suggest that the driver is elderly.

I won't even put bumper stickers on my car. It just seems kind of tacky "hey look at me!!"

I prefer to be anonymous and invisible, especially to traffic cops.

Oh, but being behind a car with a cross, fish, star of david or crescent on the trunk lid shows the owner truly is sincere but a cross on a license plate show their phoniness...

Using that same logic people with obama bumper stickers are showing their phoniness

Save the trees bumper stickers...

Support your local police bumper stickers...

And on and on..........
