BEFORE you start and claim I am racist, I am a minority female myself who is just sick and tired of all the minorities in this country crying and complaining for no reason. If your "group" is disadvantaged, instead of crying about it, why don't you WORK TOGETHER to fix it?
My father came here and worked his ass off without a single penny from welfare.
Yes, I know. Whites have the entitlement mentality too but I still think minorities (especially those from 3rd world cultures) have it worse. But THEY ARE NOT A MINORITY. Come on now!
And NO, this is not a troll thread. Not saying these phrases stereotype every member of the group. Just giving the most common cries of being victimized by them.
1) African Americans- "The White Man has kept us down for so long! Obama gonna pay for my gas and mortgage. I have 15 kids and SOMEONE has to pay up for me!! People owe me because my grandfathers great grandpa was a slave! Wah!!"
2) Hispanic/Latinos- "We deserve every right to be here despite the fact that we broke this nations laws and gave birth to babies that weren't even supposed to be here. We want welfare, healthcare and food stamps and more. We pray the people of the USA listen to god (pull out THAT card again, now why don't we?) and open their hearts (even though we kill our own illegals)! We DREAM (yuck)! Wah!"
3) Muslims- "Lowes pulled their ad from our show. Wah! They hate us! How dare Abercrombie and Fitch fire me for not letting me wear a Hijab in their store which is obviously not conservative? Why do Americans hate us so much......we want to build a mosque right by Ground Zero!! Wait, you named your Teddy Bear Muhammed? WE KILL YOU! You looked at me the wrong way? YOU ARE AN ISLAMOPHOBE! HOW DARE YOU! YOU ARE ALL IGNORANT. We are always the victims. 100 percent! WAH! "
4) Gays and lesbians-(NOTE I AM 100 PERCENT FOR GAY MARRIAGE AND RIGHTS) "We have the plight similar to African Americans! Everyone should be ok with seeing some boy on boy or girl on girl actions. What is wrong with that? I do not understand why anyone would be opposed! Wah!"
5) Other- Can't think of any other groups. Post them if you want!
I have to say that Chinese and Indians despite being minorities are more focused on being productive and improving themselves. If you can think of any of their entitlement mentality cries, post them. Is this why India and China are owning it...?
This was pretty awesome and very interesting. there are more resources in my area for black people than you can shake a stick at. The head of the local housing authority has changed about 5 times in 10 years and every one has been accused or charged with fraud and embezzlement.... The girls clubs have a few token whites in them. I watched the Salvation Army give out toys and clothing for this Christmas season and 95 % of them were black, a few Hispanics and a very few whites......
Black people have preferential hiring with government jobs, Federal, state and local. They proliferate in the schools, the post office, the police force, the banks. I do not understand why they feel like they are entitled to more and more and more......
I have some black small business owners who are hard working people but, most of them are in some government program, in some way.
The entitlement mentality is epidemic on the USA and it correlates nicely to the diminishing of America. Can't find work in 99 weeks? Hey we'll give you more money for nothing.
Have kids without marrying or even knowing who is the father. Hey we will give you an apartment and a fridge full of food because it's not fair that you and your kids should go without.
You can't compete with foreign automakers because of labor costs and poorly produced vehicles? Hey take a bailout courtesy of the taxpayers. The beat goes on and on.
This is so well said and true, it bears repeating ! This doesnt go to race as it does to attitude and morals and if you are a decent person or not.....
Remember the recent expose of the workers at a defense manufacturer who were drinking and smoking pot on their breaks and at lunch time.....
From my experiences, Muslims have a slight entitlement mentality, and that's coming from someone who went to school in which at least 25 per cent of the school was Muslim.
I think it's a bit more complex with muslims because they differ the most from the native population because of their religion. And when people bend over backwards to accomodate their beliefs, in a way, it almost discourages assimilation into North American culture. I think it's really important to assert basic western values when dealing with Muslims otherwise the same level of intolerance that they fled from will continue to exist within the community.
hmm, that reminds me of the atheists and gays. They are the most intolerant of minority groups, and think they are entitled to force their views upon the majority - cause their "special" and to hell with everybody else that disagrees.
When American culture was first created, the main idea was that a white man who worked hard should have anything he wanted, so long as he paid for it through his hard work.
Then the LAWS changed so that black men, and then women, could be equal to white men and have the same rights.
However, SOCIETY as a whole did not change their minds quickly enough to catch up to the law, so to make things more equal, laws were developed to level the playing field, and an unintended, unwanted side effect was that less-qualified people were sometimes hired to meet quotas or "just to be fair".
Out of this grew a sense of entitlement, because in some cases, working hard was no longer a condition necessary for employment. People began to feel they were "entitled" to a job just based on the fact that they were hispanic, black, female, whatever.
This sense of entitlement has grown, and now lots of people think they are entitled to EVERYTHING, 1) because they mistakenly believe everyone else has everything, so why shouldn't they? and 2) because our entertainment industry is COMPLETELY based on trying to sell people on ideals that can only be achieved through having lots of stuff (boob job, hair weaves, big house, expensive clothes, nice car, etc.) and Americans totally buy into the fact that freedom = being able to buy whatever you want to fit whatever image you're trying to portray.
So, long story short, everyone has a sense of entitlement. It's just more annoying and obvious when people who seem to add no value to society (like mothers who have 15 children and don't want to work to take care of them) complain about what society owes them.
As a black man, I would have to say black folks--sorry it is what it is. Richard Nixon was correct when he said we wouldn't make it even in 500 years. Given the current situation, I'm willing to double that figure.
Parallel to that I'd have to say Latin American immigrants.
Above all of that though, I may have to say "women" if you actually count them as minorities.
