Again. look at the Russert interview that I posted earlier. Cheney only said what was true. Why the need for these fantastical accusations? I am the first to say that the admin, especially Rumsfeld, botched the operation, especially the occupation phase which they had no plan for. If you want to criticize the Bush admin on Iraq, there is really no need to make up all this fantastical stuff.
I wouldn't necessarily say it was botched by rummy or the planners. It was botched when Turkey said you boys go float around and get in three weeks later. All "plans" were out the window when they did that. If the 4th had been able to come down from the north a lot of the insurgent folks would have been caught up in it I'm sure. Instead we had to eventually get em all in Felluga and take em out.

Unfortunately, this recent series of bombings isn't even the deadliest bomb attack in Iraq so far this year.

With or without US soldiers, the level of violence in Iraq is persistently high.

I think the biggest screwup was trying to fight a "nice" war. We should have been rolling in heavy armor until all this insurgency garbage was over. We send our guys rolling around in hummers trying to play nice with the "citizens". The same citizens who nobody knew if they were ready to plant a knife in their back when they turned around. Somebody lobbed a mortar at our guys we return fire and level the entire block it came from. Month of that would have ended the insurgency real quick.

And killed lots of innocent Iraqis, turned the region and the world against the country too.

Remember we are the US and not Nazi Germany. Killing dozens of innocent people to get one insurgent is a terrible idea.

We should have never went there.

Terrible idea unless your the one watching em run out and take a pot shot at you and then go hide behind some of their buddies. Turned the world against us?? LOL. YOu think the world loves the US for some reason before Iraq? Hell they care less until we're needed or our money is needed when a nat disaster hits. Would you care about the US if you lived in Burma? Or Madagascar? I doubt it. If your referring to the UN we should care what they think why?

I agree with you somewhat but I think our biggest screwup was trying to nation-build Iraq and the second was doing so while fighting the war.

Win their hearts and minds. Too bad they didn't put into that equation we're infidels so that aint gonna happen no matter what we do. I mean if we woulda just up and left after catching Sadaam they would still be going at it most likely or that little potatoe head Al Sadre would be running the place. Who knows he may yet. Depends on how many are just tired of war and all the killing that goes on over there. Been what thirty some odd years since Sadaam started the insanity. Maybe that's all they know? Maybe they should have tried to get em hooked on reality TV and keep em off the streets?
