The tea party is tanking the party, that's for sure. Their attacks on the middle class are being seen loud and clear by the american people, and will cost them big time in 2012.
The only thing the Tea Party is doing is the very opposite of what they are trying to achieve and thats handing the election to Barack Obama and even democrats in congressional races.
They're not going to stop. This is the beginning. Republicans like Karl Rove and many more (those who can reason) are going to rue the day they enlisted the boobs, hayseeds, ideologues and dittohead fanboys to swell the ranks of their party. Extreme lunatic fringes (be they at the right or the left end of the spectrum) have no place in mainstream American politics and governance.
Despite the rhetoric, Democrats don't pander to or try to enlist the aid of Maoists and groups like ANWAR. They just ignore those freaks. Sure, pandering to them might win them a few votes, but it would be embracing a viper. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has been flattering and wooing the wingnuts for so long that they know are acting as if they own the place. Sorry Rove. This is what happens when you build a party around demogaugery -- after awhile, people tire of just overheated rhetoric and want some real revolutionary action.

So, what exactly will be your opinion if OWS is successful in promoting and ultimately electing a roster of OWS-backed candidates that demand radical "pro-99%" solutions? Currently this is a "what if" scenario, but if it happens, will you then be ready to castigate established Democrats for listening to the will of OWS-backed candidates? Same scenario, different side of the aisle. Will it be "pandering" or will it be considered the will of the people?

That would be an effing disaster, Aero. Truly. For all of the rightwing crazy talk about the Democratic Party embracing OWS -- nope. Not even a little. The Democratic Party might give its extremists a pat on the head here and there, but for the most part, they are ignored, as they should be.
I agree with OWS' main point that income inequality is a problem in America. However, I would not trust any of those freaks to do anything constructive about it at all.
