Put it in the win column for the GOP.

There was just NO WAY this guy could overcome his vote for obamacare, the Cornhusker Kickback that BOUGHT that 60th vote.

Nebraska Democratic Senator Ben Nelson To Retire | TPM2012

Quote:
Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) is set to announce on Tuesday that he will retire in 2012, a Democratic source has confirmed to TPM.

Nelson was already probably the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent going into 2012, and Republicans and GOP-aligned groups were already advertising against him.
Bammers, Dirty Harry and Chuck U Shumer tried their best to keep the 60th vote from throwing in the towel, to no avail.

Quote:
The White House and top Senate Democrats, including Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), had quietly mounted a pressure campaign to keep Nelson from retiring. Nelson has more than $3 million in his campaign war chest, and his approval rating solidified after falling over the last several years.
Obamacare, the gift that WILL continue to give in 2012, just like it did in 2010.

A bunch in the House have announced their retirement.

Of the 23 Sen dems up for re-election , 7 are retiring it looks like. Of the 10 Sen republicans , 2 are retiring.

United States Senate elections, 2012 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of those retiring, the GOP has an excellent chance to gain the majority right there.

NE, ND, VA and WI.

Of those seeking re-election, FL, MT, MO, OH, PA look good too.

They do not have an excellent chance of gaining VA or WI. Potential? Perhaps, but excellent no. Brown is in solid position in Ohio Pennsylvania? LMAO

Unless one side gets 61, it will be another non-functional Senate.
