That's your reply to my post? Nothing about Senator Coburn's report. Nothing about any of the facts or their repercussions. Just this absurd question. Stunning.

Perhaps you're also curious as to how Dr. Coburn knows so much about poverty, too?

So there aren't servers in manhattan? There aren't garbage men? What about door men at hotels? Surely they aren't making 50K a year. Now they have to travel from somewhere else, costing more of their 35,000 a year income. Now you can write that off on your taxes, but you are still out the money of the trip.

Real world here, lets talk about the real world. You can't move everyone, and expect no minimum wage in higher income and urban areas.

Now, I think manufacturing minimum wage should be repealed, but only if all union restrictions are removed also. Allow them to really strike, if you are allowing employers to pay them 3 dollars an hour with no benefits.

Typical. I dont see working poor so they dont exist hyperbole. Most poor are habitually unemployed losers etc etc hyperbole. Go to any distribution center. You will see a ton of former 40Kish maintenance people, former office managers, etc etc picking stuff from China (etc) for 7-8 bucks an hour.

No, I'm just looking at the stats.

This site shows a direct correlation between number of people working in a household and household income. People in the lower income groups have less than one job per household. This would tell us that a large number of the poor are not working.

Yes. Here it is. Most poor families work less than one job... There is a direct correlation between work and income.

How would eliminating the minimum wage help income inequality?
I didn't say it would.

Without this, people would be even more dependent on the government than they are now. You can't have it both ways - do away with minimum wage and also with social programs. If we do this, we will have more people begging in the streets, more crime, more poverty.
No. You assume charity must be a government function. It does not and should not.

The rich get richer while the middle class become poor and the poor get poorer. Yet you think doing away with minimum wage is the answer.
Government should not tell businesses what they must pay workers. The minimum wage has not solved any poverty problems ... after being in place for 50 years. It has not stopped people from being poor. It has not stopped rich people from getting richer. It's like the war on drugs.. it just does not work.

And remember, only a very tiny percent of workers make the minimum wage.

If business does not pay people in NYC enough to live there, they will leave. That's the beauty of a free market.

And by the way, check this out;

A report on BusinessInsider.com from December 2010 states that 315 New York City sanitation workers earned over $100,000. Along with salaries that increase quickly because of union membership, New York City sanitation workers have retirement and health benefits. I agree. And that's what is so good about life in America. There are no barriers to income mobility. Millions of us have started with nothing and made a comfortable life for ourselves...... without government intervention.

Thats not true at all. You become trapped, not enough money to leave, at all.

Not everyone has family to turn to. Not everyone has enough money to leave.

A homeless Iraq war vet, would you deny him food stamps if he found a part time job making 12,000 a year? The cheapest rent in most cities is around 500 a month. Most leases require you to have electricity on, thats another 100 a month even with leaving the thermostat low.

Then there are transportation costs, not everyone has a grocery store right next door. Does he have kids, forget it, not going to make it on 12K.

Real world.
