There's a huge difference between acknowledging basic history, sociology, economics and current events and expecting people today to pay for things that took place 100 years ago.
Yes, because those are the only two possible scenarios..........
My point is groups are naturally more sensitive to stereotyping and ethnic humor when they have been, in the lifetimes of some of us, degraded as human beings. ****** just does not wound like a certain word I will not write.
I've seen a lot of comedy and, for the most part, people get away with race jokes. As one of the more prominent comedians who used to run the NYC used to say, "race is funny". I agree, but I also think you have to do it correctly. Any time make a race joke, it better be funny, and you should avoid picking on one specific race 100 percent of the time. That's why Don Imus got in trouble for his "nappy headed hoes" remark. It wasn't funny, it was stupid and offensive. I actually didn't find the SNL skit funny, and I think it boarded on offensive. So if you are going to make race jokes, think broad and for god sake be funny.
The short answer is us white peoples ancestors did not suffer through 400 years of slavery and Jim Crow.
LOL. Yeah, slavery didn't exist prior to the 1500's. The English word "slave" is derived from "slav". If you don't know who the Slavs are, look it up. You don't know the history of slavery, so look it up. Knowledge is your friend.
Was watching a Dave Chappelle skit the other day depicting what blacks would do if they ever got reparations. It was funny as hell but a white comedian could not have done that same skit.

I am talking about history pertinent to the discussion here.

Reason: rude
Charles Barkley was host of SNL this weekend. They had a skit called "White People Problems" (Video at the link)
Now white people are in the audience laughing at the skit. If the situation was vice versa, there would be no laughing - there would be a multitude of complaints.
Why are white people able to laugh at themselves regardless of the source, but black people only laugh when we make fun of ourselves - not when white people are doing the comedy?
Do white people not take themselves seriously enough - or are black people super sensitive? OR am I just totally off base?
I don't want this to be a big fight back and forth - I am curious about this and want to know what you think. I will check in later on this.
There will always be complainers and race baiters but you can watch a black comedian (or white) on TV and the cameras will show either/or/both blacks and whites laughing at the jokes, at themselves.
So recognize the usual complainers for who they are, pathetic detractors. They're in every city, every party, and every forum.
If the SNL skit had of been "Native American Problems" by a white comedian, what would be the reception?
If it had of been "Mexican problems" by a white comedian, what would have been the reception?
This isn't only a black thing here, there's a pattern.
