What happened to Occupy Wall Street?

Are they conflicted that Wall Street and Big Government are in bed together?

Obama and Jamie Dimon are probably best friends.

They are still active when called upon from the White House. They will reappear with vengeance very soon ... probably in the spring.

It's winter and they can't brave the cold. They're back in mommy's basement playing X Box.

Wait until spring. In the meantime, you might want to take a look at this link. The goal was never to see how long they could sleep in a park--who cares about that--it was to get this country talking about how a few seem to have bought and sold our government, and then changed the rules to favor them and hurt the rest of us. Looks to me like they've been pretty effective, and it's just started. Like I said--wait until spring. The next step needs to be getting big money out of elections and lobbying.

  • They are back in Zuccotti Park.
  • They are getting better organized and turning into a targeted protest group instead of a mass, camp protest group.
  • They are expanding in DC and other cities
  • They are protesting at the Debates, as well as at various Obama speaking spots.
  • Local chapters have grown and are working locally
  • and on and on...

Is it for me? No.
Have I been frustrated by their lack of direction and concrete goals, particularly early on? Yes.

But I support people taking to the streets to voice their displeasure with how dangerously intertwined Big Business and Government are. I support young people getting off their butts and shouting loudly about the injustices they see in our Government. We all should support that, Left or Right. That's what freedom is. I hope history looks back on them with a bit clearer vision then the "get a job" cranks.

Assuming this is a legitimate question, see:

Occupy Wall Street: Zuccotti Park Barriers Down, Occupy Nigeria Begins | NewsFeed | TIME.com - January 12, 2012

Quote:
A late Wednesday afternoon seems like an odd time to protest, especially while most people are still at work. Even in Times Square, crowds were hard to come by yesterday, as few tourists took in the sights on a cold, cloudy weekday. But members of the Occupy Wall Street movement chose yesterday, the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, for a hybrid protest and solidarity march that combined international and domestic politics.

MANCHESTER,N.H.— The Occupy movement was alive and well in Manchester on January 10, the quintessential epicenter of political discourse, with one rallying cry, “keep the money out of our politics”.

Just because they aren't the media's flavor of the month anymore doesn't mean they are dead and gone, quite the opposite in fact.

They're still playing pretend government near Zuccotti Park complete with the brainwashy chanting and twinkly fingers. You can read the minutes from their silly meetings at http://nycga.cc

And yes, they're still breaking the law. A baby was found abandoned in the DC camp the other day.
