Every people seems to come up with a religion of some form or other. It is one of those human universals, like language, cooking, dancing, and war. Christians say it is the 'god-shaped vacumn' in every man's heart. I say it is just an artifact of how the human brain works. We see something we don't understand, and we immediately try to concoct an explanation. Then also when an attractive, articulate leader concocts an artful explanation, everybody gloms on to it, no matter how looney.

Why should 21st century Westerners be immune from the human universals? Why not just admit it and be done with it. Green-ism is a religion, complete with well-developed eschatology (global warming).

I'm not a follower either. Your point? Best to address the question from post 10.

Its one thing to teach children to turn off the lights when they leave a room or not leave the water running when they brush their teeth. Its quite another when the schools preach non-stop political messages like the showing of Gore's highly fictional, "Inconvenient Truth" or the anti-capitalsim propaganda, "Tapped," etc. It amounts to equivalent of what the left likes to call religious indoctrination and its not just about cleaning up our environment. It is about redistributing wealth and converting this country to Socialism.

Green party, social justice, environmentalism may be defined as ideologies.
Religions have an element of "belief", which goes beyond rational. To be a Christian you have to believe in Christ, even you can't see him.
Why people can't see the difference?

Ideologies that are being preached like the Gospel to a captive audience of public school children.

You can even call it propaganda, but not religion.
