Things are going from bad to worse (if that's possible) for the GOP......

I've been saying this since last fall, and I'm a R. Obama should be falling flat on his face, but we can't seem to get our act together, and we have absolutely no one to blame but ourselves. I have never seen the party this divided, or this willing to rip other R's to shreds. The poor candidate choices in this primary, unfortunately, made that a little too easy.

I don't think Obama is certain to win the election as long as Romney is the GOP nominee.

However, even if Romney is the nominee, I still think there's a very good chance that Obama could be re-elected (even though he absolutely does not deserve to be).

This election will likely come down to "who do we dislike less?"

This is the Republicans' election to lose and, if they do, they only have themselves to blame.

The GOP might deserve to lose, but it won't lose. The totality of circumstances dictates that Barack Obama will be a one term President. I'm confident of that.

Feel free to bookmark this thread and make me eat crow in November. I'm not worried at all.

The election IS the GOP's to lose. If Obama wins it is because the Republicans failed more so than Obama succeeded.

I agree especially now I mean really Newt Gingrich I would never vote for the man period. Hopefully Florida will correct South Carolina's mistake and Mitt Romney can improve his message. I think he would make a better Predident than Obama.

Republicans have no one to blame but themselves b/c they keep pushing their party further & further RIGHT. They've spent the last 3+ years defending their partisan obstructionism by painting Obama as a far left radical. Someone needs to have no clue about politics or be complicit in trying to shift the political lean further right to think that's true.

Obama is a center-leftist in American politics, a center-rightist in European politics. When you paint someone who's in the Center as being on the extreme, you now have to shift your politics accordingly to create that illusion of difference. And voila, suddenly what 8-12 years ago were MODERATE Republican positions on taxes, financial reform, regulations, healthcare reform are now "Socialism" or "Fascism."

So now the fruit of the Republicans' labor is that the only people who they can field who fit w/in the Republican narrative that the Republican bloc can stomach are loons! Republicans, in painting a centrist as an extremist, have redefined their own extremist positions as the "norm." And while the Republican voting bloc might be fooled b/c they'll happily put their vote behind anyone carrying an (R) after their name, Independents see the ruse for what it is and are understandably turned off.

Romney is a right-leaning centrist.

Independents are absolutely turned off by Obama. Romney leads Obama among independents in every poll I've seen. Polls also show that most Americans feel Obama is too liberal and that they trust Romney more than Obama on the economy.

When Romney was Gov. of Mass. he was a right-leaning centrist. Look at the change in his positions since then. They've all gone lock-step to the far right along w/ the Republican narrative.

Any polling on Independents was based on Romney's pre-2012 campaign. In a couple weeks, when the true Mitt is presented to public, watch the Independent support for Romney plummet!

Lol @ Obama being too Liberal. The only people who think that are Republicans b/c that's the only way their narrative makes sense.

What may be missed by the faithful of the GOP is that it's not about which Republican will win it's about which Republican can be sacrificed to better position the GOP for 2016!!

This is why you see the likes of Newt, Mitt, and Ron running to be the nominee. All you see now in the GOP is nothing but a dog & pony show to distract the faithful.

ALL of these men can loose and not hurt the party for 2016. THAT is when you will see the likes of Jeb Bush and a few other GOP hard liners compete for the nomination.
