FORT WORTH -- A Fort Worth police officer arrested last week on accusations he spanked the rear of a woman he caught engaging in sexual conduct in a car in Oakhurst Park was charged with official oppression.

If convicted of that charge, a Class A misdemeanor, officer Craig Murrah faces up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Prosecutor Kurt Stallings confirmed Thursday that Murrah had been officially charged but said the case will also be presented to a grand jury.

Police have said that at about 1 a.m. on June 22, Murrah found a couple engaging in sexual conduct in a car at the park at 2300 Daisy Lane in north Fort Worth. The officer ordered the couple out of the car and placed the 18-year-old woman, nude from the waist down, in the back of a patrol car. At some point during the investigation, Murrah allegedly spanked the woman on the rear, police have said.

I wonder if she had some "junk in her trunk" and he was just patting her down to make sure she wasnt concealing anything in there.

Official oppression???

The police officer treated a ho like a ho. What's the harm in that?

Not in evidence.
Namecalling is quite nice on your part, what would you call the man?
At eighteen? I was caught, too. You live at home & need somewhere to have some fun.
For goodness sake, they're just kids, barely of age.
What would be the point of the officers putting her in a vehicle naked from the waist down?
What did they do with the man?

Why is it that misogyny is so clearly illustrated by some people.

I guess you cant really say what youd do in a moment like this... but I suspect if she got spanked at any point in her life, it was then....hard way to learn the laws of DMV manual....

I agree with Chielgirl.
Have none of you been parking with your honey? Is it a thing of the past? I dont see a liget reason for the officer to put the half naked girl in his car, especially if he is letting them off with a warning.
I was caught once too Chielgirl. The officer asked me if I was ok and told us to move along.

....sounds like maybe the officer had ambitions to one day be accepted for a position on "The SWAT Team", and maybe didn't understand the concept?...maybe he just needs more training......or a "time out"...

At any rate, let's just hope the Department can "get to the bottom of this situation"....
