An Asheville, North Carolina, news outlet published disturbing bodycam footage this week showing a white police officer beating a black resident, prompting public apologies from city officials who are continuing to investigate the incident.

The graphic video shows officers chasing Johnnie Rush, 33, throwing him to the ground, shocking him with a stun gun and beating him as he cries out in pain and shouts for help. Photos that Rush provided to the Asheville Citizen-Times show his bandaged and swollen head and other injuries.

How do these sick eff's get on a police force in the first place? Being hired should involve major background checks into history, character, and psychological testing that is then repeated annually.

Can't wait until the usual suspects weigh in with their brilliant posts of 'he should have complied' and 'obviously there's more to the story'.

Here's the video...

It appears to be a situation where cops escalate/harass to the point a frustrated citizen loses it. But the video doesn't show the previous interaction with Rush which is mentioned in the beginning of the video. I'm thinking they f'd with him there too.

No it is not. I wanted to add further supporting facts to show that we have a very real problem of police brutality in our country.

And she was held in jail for two days before she received any medical attention. But of course, the article ends with this inevitable truth:

"Prosecutors declined to charge any officers in the beating."

It's not about that, it points out the fact that this kind of abuse is widespread across the country.

There is more.

If you watch the video they had already stopped him because they knew his name.

Which means they ran him in the computer and no warrants appeared.

That probably angered them...hence following Rush to watch him jaywalk so they could F with him.

If you give someone a monopoly on force and they are protected by the State expect to be brutalized.
