Yes, she is dead. I was commenting on the original poster's thoughts regarding Sanger. And in my opinion, P.P. is just as guilty.

So she reflected the views prevalent at the time she was alive.

[quote=Swingblade;35702214]The fact the Sanger was a huge racist can not be denied. Funny how Planned Parenthood is always in the ghetto where minorities dwell. Have you ever noticed that? I was just in a mid size city recently and sure enough while cruising thru the ghetto there stood Planned Parenthood.

Many PP's are located in poorer areas of cities, probably because those locations are closer to the clients who need their free, or low cost services, from birth control, well woman care, and abortions.

But I know of several PP's located in areas you couldn't consider ghettos, too. I've seen several in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and one in Boca Raton located in what I'd think were more middle class areas. The Boca Raton PP (if it's still open) served mostly the female population at FAU.... hardly ghetto.

Have you ever perused the popular papers of that time period? Explicitly racist cartoons and commentary were the norm, not the exception.

It seems people are naive enough to think that racism went away after the Civil War...

I used Planned Parenthood back in the 70s and I'm white (ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo).
It was much less expensive than going to an OBGYN for birth control.

Today it doesn't matter what Sanger's prejudices were.

C'mon people..................it was almost 90 years ago! Can we move on??

I swear, conservatives are just so stuck in the past; I don't understand it!!

Next thing you know, they'll be clamoring for cars that are ONLY painted black, just like in the good old days! Colors are just so......................sleezy.

Much of that has to do with local governments and NIMBYs wanting to keep Planned Parenthoods from bringing in what people mistakenly believe will be nothing but riff raff into their areas.
