It's obvious that the anti-smoking movement can and will serve as a model to curb other behaviors. That is what's happening now. There is a vacation rental in my location that does not rent to meat eaters. That is an example of where we are headed.
Yup..whole milk is bad and they say too much sugar is bad.
I don't have an issue with that and if you support the freedom to choose for yourself then you have to support their rights to do that, it's private property and the owners can make what rules they want. It's when the government comes in and says the owners cannot allow anyone to eat meat that it becomes an issue.
I agree. But in relation to the original post, imagine the mentality of someone who bans meat eaters on their property. Then imagine that person gaining power.
Libertarians and smokers always said that the anti-smoking movement was based on something other than the health risks and that the justifications and methods used to attack smokers and the tobacco industry could very well be applied to alcohol, fat, salt, and virtually anything else. A lot of people didn't take the warnings seriously.
We are starting to see more and more of them coming out of the woodwork. Claims that sugar is "as addictive as cocaine" and that "Ronald McDonald is fast food's Joe Camel" and the talk of "alcopops" being targeted towards children are becoming more and more commonplace among the professionally offended.
Take a look into the mind of one of them as a writer for The Atlantic compares the alcohol and food industries to the tobacco industry and support massive regulations and an all-consuming nanny state for all:

These busy-body, self anointed masterminds have got to be called out and ignored. We dont put up with bible-thumpers who try to force us to conform to their religion, so why do we put up with these idiots and their pseudo religion????

People are quitting more to rid themselves of the social stigma of being a smoker than they are because of the health risks (myself included). All they have to do is infiltrate the public school system and media and sugar will be banned in a generation. What will it be replaced by though? Artificial sweetener is worse for you than the real stuff.

As an example, do a little research on what went on in Arkansas while Mike Huckabee was Governor. And, recall that in response to a question while he was running for President, he said he believes government DOES have a role in compelling people to live "healthy" lifestyles.

I don't see any difference between a crazed, bible-thumping Baptist trying to force his version of morality and religion down my throat, from a crazed, anti-smoking, or anti-sugar, man-made global warming Nazi, trying to force his version of morality and pseudo-religion down my throat.
None, except for one; the anti-smoking, sugar and AGW Nazi is actually getting government to jump on board with them, and is busy, busy, busy, writing laws, policies and regulations to force their version of morality and pseudo-religion down my throat.
