Mississippi River, the backbone of the USA... and oil, the USA's lifeblood.

The extreme drought has caused critical Mississippi River barge/traffic delays.

The drought has already caused salt water from the Gulf to replace fresh water
in the lower Mississippi River, endangering the New Orleans water supply.

Now, the latest chart shows Hurricane Isaac targeting not just New Orleans...
but also continuing a path up the Mississippi River.

The tropical storm Isaac is neither political nor controversial.

It will raise the water levels in the drought stricken river. Maybe too much.

I expect no matter what happens we will see increased gasoline prices everywhere in the country including the bone dry upper midwest.

Obama and his Energy Secretary Chu will be pleased. Afterall, they want Americans to pay more for gas.

Politicians/gov't personnel are both political and controversial.

Yes, they are, just not tropical storms in and of themselves.

Isaac is getting stronger.

From the NHC: " RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT INDICATES ISAAC GETTING STRONGER...
SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE THREAT EXPECTED FOR THE NORTHERN GULF COAST... "

The northern Gulf of Mexico is dotted with offshore oil facilities.

The northern Gulf coast is dotted with oil refineries.

Just a few thoughts on Isaac.
Its headed for particularly drought ravaged areas so its going to do a lot of good to a large area no matter what it does to those in the worst of its path along the coast.
It was headed for Tampa with the GOP convention and then turned away from there and headed straight for New Orleans. Poor addle minded Samuel L Jackson had a hard time coming to grips with that, I think he should try to take the hint.
We'll see what kind of a show Obama puts on to help with relief efforts. Likewise republican based organizations. Its good this is an election year, politicians will be quick to make sure they're seen helping out.
The bad weather is being blamed for keeping anti GOP protestors down to a minimum. I think they'd be low in numbers in any event. There doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm amongst the far left.
