Afghanistan has long been known as the country where Empires go to die.

How many more Americans will be killed and blown to bits before we learn that war never brings peace?

WAR NEVER BRINGS PEACE!
Rest in pieces brave soldiers, you deserved better than this.

War Mongering Noble Peace Prize winner.

I wonder how long before those Socialists strip him of that prize.

War in Afghanistan never seems to bring peace although war in some other places may have brought peace (but definitely not everywhere).

If not for the problems in the Mid East and Africa, I think it could be argued that we are in an unprecedented era of peacefulness. There are some pretty big areas of the globe that have not seen any combat for 2/3rds of a century or more. Take away the war on drugs and it would be even moreso an era of amazing peacefulness.

So, basically the world is not at peace.
Russia & Chechnya - Russia & Georgia - Russia and Ukraine...

Don't leave out cold wars... the Koreas, India & Pakistan, China and ALL it's neighbors that would like to be independent of them.

Oh! and the ever so famous Israel & Palestine/Syria/Lebanon.

Greece and Turkey (cyprus island )

Not so much peace going on..

Oh! i forgot.. The Mexican Drug wars.

Ooops 1 more.
South American: Venezuela and Colombia, Argentina & Great Britain (Falkland islands dispute).

Winning a war does bring peace. As long as the winner is a country that WANTS peace, such as the United States.

If Iran, Saddam Hussein, the Taliban militants, Hamas etc. win, it will not bring peace.
