What do you think are the three core principles of your political affiliation?
Considering how political terms have changed and morphed over the years, I am only curious as to how people see their respected parties beliefs or what they represent today.
Also, here is a standard political alignment indicator based on the four point system.

Interesting, thanks. I took the test and came up very slightly to the lower left side, but barely off of the center. That is pretty close to what I would expect, just about dead center.
it's hard to say what my party's belief is,too often they don't follow through on them.Overall I have been a Rebublican, with alot of Libertarian leanings in my thought.I am a member of this nation though, not a blind member of a party,I am a American first,a member of a party second.
What do I want my party to do?
1/limit federal government, get back to the law of the constitution stating if it doesn't express authority to te federal government that means they can't do it,not twisted meaning that "well it doesn't say it prevents us".10 amendment.
2/Uphold the Bill of Rights, individual rights.
3/have elected leaders as statespeople, not as career politicians.
4/Have government regulate when needed, but not controling.Free markets work, but abuse must be reigned in.This may fly in the face of my 1st statement, but is needed at times much like Teddy Roosevelt did at the turn of the century.
5/Multiculturism/global trade unchecked will eventually bring this country down,I elect a president-congress to manage American interests not the UN interests or international corporate interests.
Actually, I was a bit surprised. I ended up -1.25 and -1.75 or one left, two down. I would have thought I would have scored more libertarian than I did.
I am not a sheep so I do not have a party affiliation at all. I am an independent thinker and think on my own. I do not need a political party to tell me how to think.

You need not have any political affiliation to see where your general ideology lies. The political compass test asks various questions concerning how you view various social, economic and governmental subjects and based upon that generates a fairly standardized report. The four point system is one of the more accurate measurements of political ideology but by no means indicates what your party affiliation is or if you are a free thinker or not.
I remember taking this test once before but I have no idea where I was on the spectrum last time around.
My results this time:
Economic Left/Right: -5.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.18
The Dalai Lama was the modern leader to whom I was closest on the spectrum. As far as my political affiliation is concerned, I consider myself a progressive liberal. I tend to vote primarily Democrat but I'm certainly not opposed to voting for someone from any other party if their core values more mirrored my own.
I also choose to be an independent thinker. I suppose that I tend to vote democrat because I'm a tree-hugging, liberal, buy the world a coke, whacko that thinks two consenting adults have the right to marry. Unfortunately, right now I'm disgusted with the dems for rolling over and playing dead. As for the republicans, I would say that overall the Christian Right owns them. Hence, the big issues are abortion, guns and homosexuality. (Although, for the life of me I can't see how guns and pro-life fit together.) And with everything going on in our country and the world, those are not the top three for me.
In 2008, Ron Paul all the way!
Political Compass: I'm right around The Dalai Lama which is on the other side of the spectrum from Bush, making me a happy happy girl.
Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -5.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.95
Couple of Lama's, a centrist or two but so far none from the right. Odd considering the make up of this forum.
