The Catholic Church (at least in Australia) makes money from alchohol and gambling. They have Catholic Clubs here that are no different to a sports club with poker machines and bars.

Well these are people who point to Timothy McVeigh's lone attack 20 years ago and announce right wing Christians are as much a terrorist threat to modern America as radical Islamists. So really what else can you expect from them

Didn't know gay marriage was allowed in Missouri, or did they go to another state to do it? You know, in a way, he should have known. He was working at a Catholic school (not a university). If he was living with a partner, and they probably figured and didn't care, why couldn't he leave it at that? Or seek a job in the public school system?

Someone hasn't read the 1st Amendment

I've read it plenty. I just know the difference between religion and business.

EXACTLY! And they have the nerve to publicly push for school vouchers so they can directly take money out of the hands of the public schools???? ABSURD!

This isn't a church we're talking about. This is a school that receives government money. They have no right to fire anyone for what they do in their free time as long as it doesn't break any laws or affect his job performance.

If churches want to get into the BUSINESS of running schools and taking government money then they have no right to pull this crap.

If they want to do whatever they want to please their magical man in the clouds then fine, start paying taxes, stop pushing for school vouchers.

Whatever if they keep their dumb act up soon enough we won't have to worry about how catholic schools treat their teachers because there won't be any catholic schools left, they are already being closed left and right. good riddance.

You are dodging the question. If he was not gay would his firing be a news story?

You mean stay in the closet? DADT? The Catholics are fine with that as long as they can pretend not to notice? What???

Your comment highlights the stupidity of this issue.

If he was not gay, he wouldn't be fired.

That's a poor argument because nearly everyone agrees that driving drunk is a bad thing and should be condemned. Not so with same-sex marriage.
