The results are in for today, Rush had only 5 paid sponsors and 74 public service announcements! With this kind of a disaster, it's only a matter on time until he's off the air
Radio in the U.S. is capitalism -- run by private companies whose objective is to maximize profits by selling advertisements, not provide free speech in a forum of competing ideas. This is contrary to government run stations, such as the UK's BBC.
Limbaugh claimed a mandate to voice outrageous statements because he said he had millions of listeners on 600 stations and that earned him $50 million a year and brought profits to the stations. As long as the advertisers were willing to pay, the stations didn't care what Limbaugh said. In other words, the capitalist free market was Limbaugh's friend.
Radio stations fire hosts all the time that fail to draw the owner's desired listeners and/or advertisers. If a radio station hosts Limbaugh and the listeners object, and voice that objection to advertisers, who then pull advertising, that is the free hand of capitalism at work -- exactly what Limbaugh worships.
Live by sword; die by the sword.
That's what I was thinking...

For six days, we have been telling you that the 30-year-old Georgetown law student has become a major player in the presidential election,” O’Reilly said during his “Talking Points Memo” segment. “Last night, we reported that she is now being handled pro bono, for free, by the PR firm SKDKnickerbocker, which is good, because Sandra doesn’t have enough money to buy birth control pills, as we know. But there is more to Sandra’s story than just contraception. Right now, she’s on spring break in California with her boyfriend, who is the son of Democratic stalwart William Mutterperl. He has made at least 56 donations to Democratic candidates or organizations.
She can't buy contraceptives so that she can have sex with her rich little boyfriend but she can travel across the country making speeches and having interviews?
I know the local Clear Channel station is making a decision about whether to continue carrying Rush because so many of their local advertisers have cancelled their advertising....not just on Rush's show but on the station completely......as long as they continue to carry Rush.
I have an idea. Why don't we abolish the First Amendement? That's what all you leftists want, right?
Heck no. Rush has the right to spout all the filth he wants. But he doesn't have a right to force others to pay him to do it or the right to force decent people to listen to him.
I know the owner of BareEscentuals cosmetics, she is getting the word out.
we happily dumped Farmers Insurance P and L.
Wow! You showed them didn't you?
