President Barack Obama has forged a surprising consensus on opposite ends of the political spectrum: They wonder how on earth he gets away with it.

A series of recent moves — from aggressively filling his reelection war chest to green-lighting shoot-to-kill orders against an American terror suspect overseas — would have triggered a massive backlash if George W. Bush had tried them, say former Bush administration officials and a few on the political left.
Quote:
“Virtually all the Democrats who were apoplectic about Bush and were constantly complaining about him ‘trampling on our values’ over eavesdropping and detention have been silent about assassination, even though it’s so much more severe,” Greenwald said. “It isn’t that Obama is necessarily any worse on civil liberties than Bush. The point is he’s able to get away with so much more.”
By the way, Greenwald is a Liberal.

Quote:
Here’s a look at five areas in which critics on the left and right say Obama’s gotten a relatively easy ride:

- A Green Light to Kill U.S. Citizens Abroad
- Fundraising and Swing State Travel
- Closed-door CEO Courting
- A Leak Crackdown That Could Send Reporters To Jail
- A Golfing Habit Regularly Indulged
Kudos to Politico for running a front page article highlighting Liberal Hypocrisy. This non-partisan periodical deserves a grand gesture from the public for not cowering to the muted response of the mainstream media and its abject refusal to hold Democrats accountable for their glaring silence and hypocrisy after January 20, 2009.

What if George W. Bush had done that? - Josh Gerstein - POLITICO.com

The hypocrisy here is saying that only Liberals are hypocrites.

Which is why I constantly say Obama is Bush Lite.

But yes, all liberals are Obama apologists and there are no exceptions, amirite?

Yes, both sides are hypocrites. But it's irrsponsible to ignore the glaring silence on the issues pointed out so prominently by Politico. Which is why such hypocrisy found its way onto the front page.

Obama is not Bush Lite. Obama is Bush X 3. Which makes the hypocrisy of the left that much worse.

Yup, the establishment circus is still doing its job of keeping the people irrationally polarized.

I long for the day when the majority of voters realize the asses that the DNC and RNC force into the media and into primary elections are only superficially different, and we get screwed in the same way regardless of which of the two evils we elect.

It was the same way when GWB was in the Whitehouse. Hypocrisy is not endemic to the Left, nor to the Right. Politics, by it's very nature, is hypocritical.

Pretty much this.

Both sides are the same, and voting party line is what got us in this mess, and we won't get out of this mess with the upcoming election either.

How do you quantify "irrationally polarized?"

As I see it, the issues pointed out by Politico, particularly the issue of assassinating American's abroad, shouldn't be polarizing....it should be worthy of non-partisan revolution against policymakers! Instead, liberals have decided to remain mum partisan hacks because "their guy" did the dirty deed.

You're absolutely right about us being screwed. It doesn't help that when major policies affecting our freedoms come forth that an entire segment of our population find it acceptable to stay quiet for partisan reasons. It doesn't get any more polarizing than that....and it didn't even come from the media...it came from our own citizens.

If Timothy McVeigh had been on vacation in a Middle Eastern country, I'd be OK with assassinating him.
I'm pretty liberal. Seriously? Getting money for re-election is wrong now? When did that become a talking point? IS he .... not supposed to do that? While the other guys ARE doing that? so..... for him to do it is bad, and the others to do it is not bad. Oh! Wait, he's good at it. Let's shame him by reacting against him doing good at it?

You know, if he wasn't getting a lot of money/donations, people would be starting threads like "Obama is Finished! Losing all donors! AHAHAHAHHA!" If he IS getting a lot of money/donations, it's "Obama doesn't care about America! Just money! AHAHAHAHAHA!"

That's hilarious.
