Europe has been continually at war for centuries. Those people who predicted peace did so because of a brief half century or so of relative calm. What makes you believe that now is any different than then?
Yugoslavia isn't even a 20 year old conflict and the Greeks have been fighting against communism/fascism for decades. Europe is constantly at war. Maybe those who believe it isn't are just watching American Idol and Nascar too much?
