Breathing the air everyday is bad for you even in limited quantity. You would have to drink a huge amount of Coke and/or Pepsi to be at risk for cancer. California is a joke.

If it's a matter of a simple change that MIGHT be in our best interest, and doesn't effect the taste of the product, I don't know why anyone would care or think it's a problem with California. Aren't you folks always squawking about "state rights"?

This chemical will be removed nationwide! Good job CA.

Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc. are changing the way they make the caramel coloring used in their sodas as a result of a California law that mandates drinks containing a certain level of carcinogens come with a cancer warning label.
The companies said the changes will be expanded nationally to streamline their manufacturing processes. They’ve already been made for drinks sold in California.

Instead of having to place a warning label on cans for people who drink a thousand cans a day, Coke and Pepsi simply reduced the amount.

I have never been a big soda drinker.

When I was a kid I would drink a few, now......nope. But man, these people buy case after case of Frankenbeverage......who the h*ll knows what is in the cr*p???

And this crud they are removing......probably a drop in the bucket of a complex chemical stew.

Coca-Cola said Friday it will lower levels of a chemical in caramel coloring to comply with a California law, but insisted the beverage’s recipe will not change and poses no health risks.

Pepsi is making similar changes in order to avoid having to label products with a cancer warning due to what California has ruled are high levels of 4-methylimidazole (4-MEI), shown to cause cancer in lab animals, consumer advocates said.

Well, you and I agree...

I don't know the details of this poison but I do know that NO one will tell the producers of Coke what to do.

In the 70's Don Rumsfeld and Reagan pushed Aspartame through despite it failing safety tests....but Donny(close Bush associate) wanted to make millions. So millions of people drink aspartame in their diet sodas and food.
It has horrible side effects that mimic serious diseases.....and it INCREASES appetite....

Gee, we do live longer but I hardly know anyone who doesn't have cancer/diabetes/heart disease or some other disease....so whoop-de-doo, we live longer...

I'm waiting for the day when some food police group reports some phony research that there is a cancer causing substance in beer. You know, the liquid that people have been drinking for 5000 years.
