Yeah, that is really sad... I am a bit suspicious about the owner who only reported the car stolen after the incident... I would investigate the owner, his/her sons and friends... something doesn't smell right about it... I hope whoever gets caught gets death... the dispatcher should of known never to put a caller in danger, its even in their protocols, too bad it wasn't followed...

The Jeep was found abandoned and then later reported stolen by the owner? Sounds fishy.

Yah, that's about a crock. Back in 1999, when some tool shed plowed in to me with his car, and then took off after doing extensive damage to me and my car, he tried to say his car was stolen.

Here's the problem: A good Samaritan who was behind me and witnessed everything took off after Mr. Hit and Run, got his license, came back, gave it to the police. The police ran the plates, got the owner's name, went to his house and LO AND BEHOLD, the car was at his house. Because thieves commonly steal a car and then park it right back where they found it.

As for the story...so touching that they are "sorry". Lot f-en good that does for the guy who lost his life over a stupid order from the 911 dispatcher. Why the hell would they tell him to return to the scene of the crime? WHY! That is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

"Oh I'm sorry, you were just mugged and beat half to death...yah, well, we need you to go back there and sit tight until we send an officer out."

MORONS! How are these people getting these jobs? They are IDIOTS!

This is very tragic. I must say, that I would NOT have returned to a location where I was being accosted by violent people. No way in hell. I'd just get the hell out of Dodge.
