There has been a media driven myth about the wild west for 150 years. According to dime-store novels, the wild west was constant gun battles and mayhem in the streets. The reality is that towns of the wild west tended to be quiet and orderly. Without law to protect the rights of the criminal, people realized that picking on people or harassing them could easily be fatal. People tended to avoid offending whenever possible. While small altercations could easily turn fatal, the occurrences were far fewer than the picture painted by novelists.

When I was a kid I read in a Conan comic, and yes I did read comic books since video games had yet to be invented and TV was lame even then, I picked up a bit of .... for lack of a better word, I'll call it wisdom.... Anyhooo, Conan had made an observation regarding civilized men vs. barbarians. He noted that civilized men were rude and abusive to each other because they had nothing to fear whereas the barbarians were generally polite because insulting people could easily result in getting their heads bashed in.

I have found this to be true in real life. I noticed that in dangerous cities or neighborhoods where police protection is pretty much non-existent people tend to avoid confrontation while in the more "civilized" areas one is far more likely to encounter some screaming yahoo. People out in the country are incredibly polite. While some folks believe the country is more civil because of higher quality people, I tend to think it has more to do with the reality that the nearest cop or even eye witness is miles away and there's plenty of time and place to hide the evidence.

Oh yes, I'm sure. You speak the same exact way in every situation regardless of the place and who is in attendance. Uh huh. Typically that is diagnosed as having Aspergers.

And having one's feelings hurt is not the same as being a victim of cyberbullying. But I know you don't like to educate yourself about such things, so I won't ask you to look at actual research and examples of cyberbullying.

As an outsider to your country, I often see the news reports from the US, the ones that stand out, are the mass killings at schools/colleges.

When I see these, do you know what I think? Well, I see a victim that has been pushed too far. Here in the UK, many victims just commit suicide, unable to defend themselves against gang culture, or warfare, or the continual taunting, and physical attacks, (that one seems to be expected to just shrug off), inside, and outside of school.

You get the statements; “He was a lonerâ€, “He kept to himselfâ€, “I didn’t really know himâ€, you get the idea.

They should have just said; “He was an outcastâ€, “We didn’t want anything to do with himâ€, “He didn’t fit in with our group’s profileâ€.

So, when you see all the outrage, spare a thought for the original victim, I do.
What you see is the narrative put out by the media and schools. It's not reality. We moved to a new district a couple years ago. My son is in high school. A kid shot himself in the head here a month or so ago at the school he used to attend and the story was thrown all over how he was bullied bla bla bla. Now my son still keeps in touch with all his friends from over there and they tell an entirely different story than what is being fed to the masses.

An anonymous person who wants to make your life a misery decides to hack into your email account online and send an email to everyone you know. Your boss, your work colleagues, friends, family, bank manager etc. The email has some graphic accounts of you sexually abusing children and bragging about your childporn collection. The email includes a link to a pedophile website where this anonymous person has used your email address to create an account to make some graphic posts. The email is written as if it comes from you. You walk into work on Monday and your boss gives you the sack. Your friends won't talk to you despite you protesting that it wasn't you that sent the emails and none of it is true. Your wife and family look at you in horror. You report it to the police but they don't believe you because it came from your account. They arrest you. Your reputation is completely destroyed. No-one believes you are innocent because the evidence points to you.

You have no idea who did this, so you can't just go up and punch them in the nose.

This is the sort of thing that a teen 'bully' can do to victimize someone using the internet.

Do you still think that you can just switch off your PC to avoid being victimized by this type of cyber harrassment? Would this person be just calling you names and being 'mean' to hurt your 'po widdle feelings'?
Your being absolutely ridiculous. I wonder how many fifteen year old kids hold down jobs and have a wife and family?? If there are accounts of you sexually molesting children on a porn site then being bullied is your last worry.

I was thinking more along the lines of ASPD.

I thought it was up to the kids to demand to be left alone? After all it's in every child's power to stand up for himself, right?

I guess you didn't comprehend that it was an example of what damage can be done through cyber-harrassment where your naive simplistic comments of "just shut off your damned PC" would be rather useless.

Most bullies enlist the help of others.

1 one 1 is one thing, 4 on one? The school should have a policy against this.
