Furthermore, everything is objectionable to somebody - and these are college students, not children. Pathetic attempt at gay-bashing, especially coming from the people who yell about "the war on Christmas" every year, and call people PC police for complaining about forced religious/Christmas events. As I often find myself saying to certain people on here, pick a side already!

The school knew what was in this play. They knew it would be objectionable to some parents and cause some students discomfort. But, they pushed on with their agenda to indoctrinate the public school children against the kids' wishes. It wasn't put on as a piece of "art." It was part of the new "faux" anti-bullying/forced gay acceptance fascist program our country is engaging in. We've seen this level of fascist propaganda before in history; but never so blatantly on our children.
Was is required for students to attend, I didn't see that in the story, but maybe I missed it.

Wrong. Those were high school students that were forced to watch the Gay Play with 2 guys kissing at school. (Aren't you the librarian; pathetic reading skills...)

"Principal David Chambers said the students had heard ahead of time that there might be same-sex affection in the play. Some asked to be excused. Chambers considered sending an opt-out letter to parents but decided against it.
In his opinion, he told the Courant, the high schoolers need to develop a “sense of empathy toward gays and lesbians.”

Your reading skills apparently missed that I edited my post, since I had meant to quote the original article - which is about a college. I'm posting from an iPhone, so forgive me for accidentally hitting the quote button on the wrong post... but I can read just fine, and don't care if this happened in a high school or college anyway. As somebody else asked, were these HS students forced to see the show? And even if they were, what harm could be done by seeing two guys kiss? I see that (from lesbians too) all the time, and it hasn't turned me gay yet! Weak people, I guess.

Where were they forced? I re read the story, and still can't find that part. I am tired though, so maybe I missed it again.
Would you please help me find it?

ETA. posted at same time. Thanks for the new link. I personally think the students should have been allowed to opt out.

Ya mean like supporters of militant homosexuality could be trolling for the Pro-Gay stories to post here? Cuz I've seen even three of them in the same day, before.

The OP was wise to post this story. No American should be harassed, fined, or "punished" in any way for refusing to see a gay show, etc., just as no American should be for choosing to see same.

No opt out was given even though some students requested it.

Maybe they DO need to see this stuff, so it loses that "shock value" and doesn't turn people into fearful homophobes like the OP (and other regular gay-bashers here).

So, how do you feel about forced participation in reciting the pledge (with G-d in it) and forced participation in Christmas productions? I was subjected to both growing up, but nobody seemed to care much about it - myself included. But I guess in our society religious indoctrination = okay?
