Lets break this down a bit, first is Iran a threat to anyone or is it the one being under threat?
The last offensive war the Iranians launched was against the Ottomans in the 1800s.
After that they've had
- Democratically elected governments toppled by CIA and British plots
- Attacked by a western sponsored crazy dictator, Saddam Hussein in the longest war of the 20th century
- Been embargoed and isolated by the US and its allies
- Had both neighboring countries invaded by the US
- Now having a terror campaign waged against them by US and Israel and have terrorist groups attacking their cities, murdering public officials and citizens that are funded by them.
- Being threatened with being bombed over a nuclear programme that no-one has proved to even be in pursuit of weapons.
And Iran is the threatening ones?
And who is the one being "threatened by them?"
- Israel who wages a war at least twice a decade?
- Israel who is running the longest occupation in modern history?
- Israel that possesses ICBMs and over 200 nuclear warheads?
- Tyrants that the US sponsors for economic interests and to maintain a military presence at their doorstep ?

Yep, we're a real threat to serbians who want to ethnic cleanse their part of europe. We're a threat to al queda. We were a threat to saddam. We were a threat to the soviet union. We were a threat to kadaffi. Did I forget anyone?
Not going to war against Iran would be a threat against keeping the military industrial complex prosperous.
