It depends on the framework and organization of government. A government lead by nasty people and not kept at bay by solid laws/constitution/checks and balances can go in either direction most people don't like, to the extreme left as well as to the extreme right.

Funny, countries like Sweden, Finland, and Denmark have been practicing socialism for quite some time now. The countries tend have populations with high educational levels, good health systems, low crime rates, high median incomes, and consistently rank amongst the happiest countries in the world in terms of their populations.

The Land of Chumps!
There are people who are still living with a 1950s mentality.

If we would have used that mentality we wouldn't be sitting where we are right now. Look back at history for answers. The "progs" always want to look foreward and try and sell the utopia they want to create on the backs of others. They always forget that last part.

Actually, those exile Cubans love their country less than all those Cubans who did not leave, but endure the embargo etc. The former just sit in Miami and wait for someone else to solve Cuba's problems so they can return with their dollars and enjoy life there.
You do not understand Cubans at all. They have pride. They LOVE their country. Many of them wish they could go back...some of them still have family there that they can't get to. They have pride in their music, in their culture, in their food...if you ask a Cuban in Miami where they are from, they will stand up and proudly boast, 'CUBA!'

But they HATE the communism. Stop talking nonsense when you don't have a clue what you're talking about. AGAIN, go ask your boss for some time off. Two weeks...go to Miami, now is a pretty good time, the weather isn't that bad. If you can't do it now, wait till November otherwise it's too fricken hot.

When you go, take your first day to enjoy the beach, enjoy the tropics, just enjoy. But then, I want you to visit Little Havanah. I want you to visit Calle Ocho. I want you to visit Kendall. This is a mixture of neighborhoods so you will get a nice, good grasp of what communism is really like from all different "standards of living".

NONE of them will tell you that communism is great. And if you think, for one moment, that Cubans in Miami just sit around and wait for things to happen, you are CLEARLY deluded. Websites, phone calls, radio....I don't mean commercially sponsored radio, either. Man, seriously, you really need to fricken do some research before you make stupid comments like that.

Go! GO THERE, talk to them, and I mean, take that two weeks, with exception of the first day, and TALK TO THEM. They'll feed you. They'll have you over and they WILL talk to you.

And then you come back here and tell me they hate their country and/or think communism isn't so bad. Unbelievable.

And did not ring hauntingly familiar to Americans, because we're not a Communist country, except in Beck's easily set off imagination.
