GOOD! If the pulpit's to be used for political purpose let the churches be taxed for that privilege.

I worked at a public job and would never have made any kind of political statement at work but I consider what I do after work my own business. I consider my facebook to be my private life too. Luckily I am retired.

And how about the marine that was discharged because he critized the president. This erosion of freedoms with the young not even knowing that it is wrong is realy a scary thing for our country in my opinion.
Apparently you don't understand freedom of speech and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
When you begin to understand, do feel free to participate.
It's not hard to educate yourself, I provided links in the thread on the topic. (As did many others).

Way to cite a link from a fake news organization.

That "article" is even weaker than your usual fodder.

Is Media Matters a fake news organization? If it is why do so many people take every word they "repeat" from Glenn Beck as truthful news? Who said anything about that blog being a fake news organization other than you. I always have to admit that it is a blog but I do admit that when quoting them and few prigs around the forum even give any thought to linking us to Alternet, Media Matters, Think Progress or HuffPo. At least there aren't many linking us to things from Daily Kos even though so many do read it.

In this case, you are not reflecting the current law. Churches (and other tax-exempt organizations) are precluded from endorsing or campaigning for or against particular candidates. The Bishop for instance could have talked about abortion and even endorsed particular abortion legislation, without violating current law. The crux of the issue, in this case, is whether or not the Bishop's statements during his homily were an attempt to campaign against Obama's election.

As a Tax-exempt organization, if Acorn had endorsed Obama then they would have violated there tax-exempt status.

Try this linked article taken from a regional newspaper that I subscribe to. It points out that the group mentioned in this thread has tried to push the city council around concerning what kind of prayers can be said at their meetings.

The best part of it all is that 4 of the people who usually do their prayers for them have refused to take part anymore. It is really terrible that they won't be taking part any longer since the "GROUP" managed to count 14 of the 16 prayers opening their sessions in over a year contained the name of Jesus Christ.

Those four people are now the really honest ones in that the region is very heavily Christian in the population. Those who don't want to hear dirty words like Jesus Christ could either stay away from the meetings or come in after the invocation is delivered. This is a case of the minority running the show and the head man on the council suggesting that they will just have to stop praying before their meetings. Who wins that one, Christians or secularists? How long before courts and minority groups make the same things happen all over the nation?

Gestapo technique involved using Church as a platform.

Not going to comment on the issue, but an important aside:

Whenever you're considering make a Nazi analogy, ask yourself, "am I about to expose my hysteria/lack of historical context for all the educated people to see?"
