"As many as 100 high school students walked out of a national journalism conference after an anti-bullying speaker began cursing, attacked the Bible and reportedly called those who refused to listen to his rant “pansy asses.”

"The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”

"Savage, and his husband, were also guests at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception. He was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference."

Anti-Bullying Speaker Curses Christian Teens | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

Are we getting a clear picture of what this national Faux "Anti-Bullying" program is really all about?

Wonder when these high school students will be getting an apology from our president, who is so supportive of it?

BTW, if you think this is bad, you should see what is embedded in your children's innocent looking "literature" books in their public schools.

Are you denying that hateful readings of the Bible by Christians are a major reason for the bulling of gay teenagers? If Christians would keep their hate speech and beliefs to themselves rather than evangelizing them through a perversion of Christ's words, then there wouldn't be a problem.

It appears the speaker was trying to put the kids into a real life situation of what to do when confronted by a bully. The kids of course do what is right and ignore him and walk out. Just like they ignore all the other bullies who are trying to push their anti-bullying nonsense down their throats.

Clue to kooks...........non christians make fun of gays too. They make fun of nerds and jocks and dorks and on and on. The world goes on. Unless of course your a liberal who likes to throw out the feigned outrage when such a thing occurs. The kids will grow up faster then the liberals preaching their anti bullying nonsense.

I wouldn't expect you to read for accuracy, but notice that I said "a major reason," not "the only reason."

Oh yes, KU, we know you love to defend bullying. I actually started to laugh when I read the OP's post, as I wondered how you would adapt you "Turn Off the Damn Computer" motto.

I think I would clapped and thanked him for his 'wonderful example of how a bully acts" and THEN walked out

Well, I'm concerned when any adult speaks inappropriately to a young audience, even one of high school students. Savage's choice of words where unnecessary, inappropriate and inexcusable. But having said that, I preferred to search out an article written by a real journalist, one who uses quotations in context and provides an actual fair and balanced approach to their reporting.

The Urban Legend : Savage speech shocks, inspires high school journalists at the NSPA convention

Ah, the literal mind. Funny at times, but woefully underdeveloped.

So you are defending this bullying treatment of children and this vulgar presentation?

"Tuttle said the speech was laced with vulgarities and “sexual innuendo not appropriate for this age group.” At one point, he said Savage told the teenagers about how good his partner looked in a speedo."

“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”

"As the teenagers were walking out, Tuttle said that Savage heckled them and called them “pansy asses.”
