Maybe the Vet decided that this was the best time to do such a thing since maybe these two love each other. What better way to welcome your loved one home who you have been with for a long time than by proposing marriage to them?

That's what ANYONE without an agenda would have done. Obviously they had an agenda they knew media would be there and planned it because of that. If homosexual couples would just blend in with society instead of trying to force it down everyone's throats then maybe people would be more eager to accept or at least not give a crap.

I said in the very first line its a publicity stunt for ANYONE to do it. Doesn't matter what sexual orientation they prefer its a publicity stunt and uncalled for. Most folks I know like these things to be nice quiet private affairs not publicity stunts unless you are in fact trying to get the media's attention.

The media loves stories like this so they can print a big juicy store about it and sell the papers to society.People are not smart enough to decide for themselves they see what's in the papers and when its constantly smashed in their faces every time they open a magazine or paper eventually they come to accept it as fact. I've seen many people propose, or be proposed to when their loved ones return from deployment. Did this one call a news conference? Did he personally call the press? Or maybe the press was there to cover the homecoming, and caught the moment on film. I can't watch the video on this computer, so I don't know.

And I'm not sure I really belive you. If somebody posted a thread on here titled: "Male Vet Proposes to Marine Girlfriend on Base After Returning From Afghanistan" I'm suppose to believe you would be posting similar comments of disgust in it? (not that such a story would even make the news seeing as how it's probably somewhat common and a complete non-issue).
Again doing it for publicity. How in the hell is the first thing you think to do when seeing a loved one for the first time in say a year is the propose to them...its a publicity stunt. I would give them a hug and be very thankful that I have them back in one piece.
