I would not say the GOP has gone off their rocker because this seems to be typical Christian Conservative behavior.

I gotta tell you - I have a feeling that some people are stupid, crazy, bigoted, etc. regardless of what political platform they run on. With a black democrat as president, I am not really surprised that every racist with political aspirations would run under the GOP banner. It'd be rather weird running as a democrat when your leader happens to be black while you, obviously detest anyone non-white.
