See this guy hanging out with Matt Lauer? Probably never seen him before, right? His name is Ryan Julison and he is the PR guy for Trayvon Martin's family.
Are you thinking, PR guy, what? Why would the family of a dead teenager need a PR guy? They have attorneys to speak for them and represent their interests.
But you see, attorneys aren't as good as packaging and messaging. So Crump & team brought in a Ryan Julison to package this story for the press.
And Julison was proud of his success. He posted about it on Facebook numerous times. Here's one example:
He posted multiple updates about working with different media those first couple of weeks in March- ABC, NBC, CBS, etc., etc. In the interest of space, I won't link all the screen shots.
Those pieces he "worked" with them on are the sources that orginally claimed Zimmerman was white, weighed 100 pounds more than Martin, etc. The story claimed Martin was shot simply for being black. One story said:
Since Trayvon, a high school junior who wanted to be a pilot, was black and Zimmerman is white, Crump said race is “the 600 pound elephant in the room.”
He provided the red shirt picture and football picture that were widely used.
After the race violence in Trayvon's name exploded, Julison scrubbed his facebook. He claimed it was never his intent to incite racial violence.
I'm not trying to start another Trayvon/George Zimmerman debate. My point with this post is to make people aware of how you are being manipulated by the media. The media allowed a PR guy to spoon feed them a packaged victim and didn't bother to really investigate until later.
And the PR guy, does he sound like someone who was concerned about the dead teenager or the unrest he caused:
"Doesn't get much bigger than this." Hmm, sounds like someone who is excited to get his "product" placed. How sad.
