At the rate that Americans are giving up their rights voluntarily, it would not surprise me a bit if only a few parents protested this and were viewed as nutjobs because of it.
What do you think two maybe three days before the students start to "accidentally" leave their ids in the bathroom or locker or "accidentally" loose them altogether. Or the entire 10th grade swaps IDs with the entire 11th grade.

The "smart" ones will just leave the ID in a classroom so they can be marked "present"
"Oh, I must have dropped it when I was in class."
Kids that want to cut will find ways to cut and not get caught.
But..these school officials already know that.
District will probably encourage them to do that because they can then say see according to this spreadsheet attendance records are now met and we get our funding. Yippee!!!
What is funny is that where I do sub teaching I have to account for all the students in that class.
If I marke one absent that hasn't shown up within 5 minutes I get a call to see if they are still absent or showed up late. Only one can leave the room at a time and must have a pass that shows what classroom they came from.
So if this school can't track their students whereabouts and have to resort to RFID then they are doing a lousy, really lousy job at classroom management and peims (student personnel management).
