Republicans in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania have elected Steve Smith, a lifelong white supremacist with close ties to neo-Nazi groups and groups like Aryan Nations, to the county’s GOP Committee.

In March 2003, he and two other KSS members were arrested in Scranton for beating up Antoni Williams, a black man, using stones and chunks of pavement. Smith pleaded guilty to terrorist threats and ethnic intimidation and received a 60-day sentence and probation.

Theres an article online about an election in Montana as well.

HELENA (AP) - A former organizer for the Ku Klux Klan said Wednesday he is running as a Republican for Montana's U.S. House seat because he believes people will back him as part of a backlash to the nation's first black president.
But John Abarr, a 41-year-old night auditor at a Great Falls hotel who lost a local Republican legislative primary in 2002, could have a hard time getting any backing from Montana Republicans. His platform promises to legalize marijuana, increase mental health programs, keep abortion legal, abolish the death penalty because he argues it is unfair to poor people - and "save the White Race."

Montana candidate with KKK ties running for Congress - The Bozeman Daily Chronicle: 2012

GOP, no surprise sadly.

Folks in DC voted in a crack user as mayor. Bobby Rush an ex-Black Panther has been elected multiple times in Chicago. If this is what the populace wants so be it. Democracy in action.

Be honest. You would have voted for him, right?

Equating drug users with violent racial bigots is asinine.

To be fair, you should mention SPLC in the thread title so we don't have to waste time reading the rest.

Is this one of those "the truth has a Liberal bias" moments?

Lol, why would the SPLC risk a libel suit from an elected official who is basically unknown?

Smith is also an active member of local Tea Party groups, a network that he used to gain support for his bid for the committee seat. According to the SPLC, Smith referred to the Tea Party as “fertile grounds for our activists.
Impossible!

America is still free to elect whoever they chose. I believe that electing people with strong religious ties are the most dangerous of all. I believe the electing the wealthy only transfers more wealth to the rich and forces the poor to be poorer. It would be wrong for me to impose my will if that were possible. This is why we have elections.

BTW, Mitt Romney organized a gang of thugs while he was in school harassed and bashed a gay. Should he be banned from running for office?
