Nice wording, Fox News. N-i-c-e.
rat poison Indianapolis mom released bond: Indianapolis mother accused of killing unborn baby with rat poison released on bond - fox59.com
She was trying to kill herself.....
........
...there is a growing trend toward criminalizing mothers who do things like take drugs or fall down stairs (allegedly on purpose) while they're pregnant...
You can sympathize with Shuai and her apparent mental illness while also being deeply disturbed by what she did. But her prosecution by Marion County prosecutor Terry Curry, a Democrat, seems entirely inappropriate, and speaks to the increasingly common notion of pregnant women as mere vessels for baby-making.

This case.. is gonna make history and perhaps, case law.

Shuai has burned through her savings fighting the charges, and Pence said a fund has been set up where supporters can donate to help Shuai post bond and pay her legal bills. She said women's groups, church groups, students and others have already offered support, and a website has been set up to accept donations toward Shuai's release and defense.
Bond granted to Indiana woman charged in baby's rat-poison death - News-Sentinel.com

Imagine. If you get charged for doing something harmful that makes your baby die. OR perhaps just ill or mentally deficient at birth. You can't be charged for fetal alcohol syndrome. At least, not that I've seen.

We can't give a fetus or unborn baby the same right as everyone who is actually born and living seperate from another human being. That's the bottom line and people keep trying to punch a hole in that. It doesn't work.

How come people who support abortion don't protest laws that allow people who murder pregnant woman from being charged with two counts of murder? How come a human life is just a "parasite" if the mother chooses to end it's life - but it beomes a human being if the mother is killed?

How is thinking this way not hypocritical?

Guess we better ramp up the powers of the EPA.

Pay attention Republicans.....it's all about the fetus after all.....we need to crack down on industrial pollution for the good of fetuses in this country.

Glorifying the Fetus While Ignoring the Fetal Environment
Quote:
Studies on umbilical cord blood taken from newborn babies have confirmed that toxic chemicals, pesticides and pollutants are able to cross the placenta from mother to infant in the womb. One groundbreaking study on umbilical cord blood found newborn babies had an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in their bodies.
Should we arrest women who deliberately harm their fetuses by drugging, drinking, smoking and even for being obese?

Obesity during pregnancy may pose health risk for fetus: study
Quote:
The swelling ranks of obese, expectant mothers face a heightened danger of miscarriages, stillbirths and premature babies, and more likely to deliver children who develop diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even spina bifida. A study released just this week found obese women were almost 70 per cent more likely than others to have an autistic child.
Just how far are we going to take this?

If we are going to hold the mother responsible for fetal health, then we also need to hold the government responsible for pollution that harms fetal health.

Or......maybe we should put pregnant women in "gestation centers" for the duration of their pregnancies........so everything they eat, drink, touch, breathe can be tightly controlled......ya know.....for the sake of the fetus.
