How the situation basically stands .. At its extremes
A woman can have an abortion with NO input from the father.

A woman can decide to keep the child with no idea how she is going to take care of it and the father is required to pay child support until the child is 18 and has NO control how these funds are spent.

She can decide to put the child up for adoption but needs the father permission of a father who may or may not want anything to do with the child.

I take it that the poor sex education you received didn't let you know that condoms aren't 100% effective and pregnancies do happen. In the future, unless you know what you're actually talking about, it might be best to not post.

So, you would think that since men know this they would make more of an effort to be careful. I've seen FAR more instances of men completely disappearing when they found out their girlfriend (or fiancée or wife in a few cases) was pregnant. It seems to be a very rare occurance that a man will actually fight to have the woman keep their progeny.
