Maybe not. Seems to be some renewed interest in the moon.
Helium-3

quote:
Helium-3 (He-3) is a light, non-radioactive isotope of helium with two protons and one neutron. It is rare on Earth, and it is sought for use in nuclear fusion research. The abundance of helium-3 is thought to be greater on the Moon (embedded in the upper layer of regolith by the solar wind over billions of years)

Helium-3 is proposed as a second-generation fuel for nuclear fusion in hypothetical fusion power plants, but such plants are still very early in their development—especially since first generation reactors have not yet entered into service. Helium-3 can be used in instruments for the detection of free neutrons, such as neutrons leaking from nuclear reactors.

Hopefully China is planning on doing follow-ups rather than a flag planting and forget for 40+ years.

Do you really think Russians or Americans are interested in space for any other reasons? In both countries everything is infested by the military virus...

That's what Obama did pretty much as soon as he got into office. Gutted NASA. Now we rely on Russia to get us into space???
