"Now, I know there are a lot of people who are very skeptical about whether the president was born in Hawaii," [bennett] said. "Personally, I believe he was.
"I actually think he was fibbing about being born in Kenya when he was trying to get into college and doing things like writing a book and on and on and on.
"So, if there was weird stuff going on, I actually think it was happening back in his college days because I think he has spent $1.5 (million) or $2 million through attorneys to have all the college records and all that stuff sealed."
it seems that bennett is combining the "fulbright scholarship" myth with the miriam goderich bio blurb the tossing in the "$2million" myth for sh*ts-n-giggles.
i find it pretty pathetic that a state SOS doesn't understand the concept that private records are not "sealed".
but bennett is already backtracking:
Quote:
Bennett on Wednesday said that his comments are being misconstrued and that he was hinging his statement on the word "if."
He said he never unconditionally stated that he believes Obama was fibbing and that he was offended that his comments have been interpreted to mean the president lied.
"I have no personal knowledge about what happened," Bennett said, referring to Obama's college days.
i'm not sure romney can without losing a fringe element of the conservative party. it's been one of the things that has fascinated me about the birther fiasco.
on a related note: the recent comment by romney supporter and hairstyle icon, donald trump, that obama's grandmother said he was born in kenya was shown to be false....... again. besides the fact that sarah obama has never stated obama was in kenya........ she repeated that fact in a recent interview.
