A conveniently debunked theory
Scientists Prove Abiotic Oil Is Real!
I wonder how much money big oil would lose if their precious oil were discovered to be an unlimited renewable resource, i wonder if the powers that be would lie to us to protect their profits? nah they wouldnt do that would they..
I've always questioned can enough decaying forests and dinosaurs be responsible for supplying the Earth with close to 100 million barrels of oil per day?And how come all the oil is down at 18-20K feet?

So literally thousands if not hundreds of thousands of companies and their employees are in on this oil conspiracy?

Like ive said before , Peak Oil at least the worst of it won't happen in our lifetime. However Asia's growing thirst for Oil will drive up prices in the US and AUS due to supply and demand issues. China has contracted out half the oil sands up in Canada and has contracted out some of the Oil shale in the Dakotas....that Keystone Pipeline would have shipped the Oil faster to tankers to bring it to China. India has gone after Iran even though they hate them , but they need the Oil , and Africa. China has also put a stake in Africa... North America only has the Middle East , part of the Dakotas and South American and the clock is running out...at least the way China is sucking up the Oil...

Yeah but China's economy is going into the tank too like the rest so that sucking oil sound won't be so loud here soon. Oil will be cheap here soon. What is it around 80 a barrel or so? It will tumble along with everybody's economies.

Its stable , not growing... but India is and both Countries are driving more , aside from using Transit. The Highway and Road network just surpassed the US... Between the 2 Countries close to 300 Million drive , it was only 50 Million back in 2000. Its expected to climb to 500 Million by 2020...

Ok, so we are past the part about the US being a Net Crude Oil Exporter -- ever.

And yes Canada is presently shipping Tar Sand Oil to US while totally trashing Northern Alberta.

And this is a Good Thing?

Would not all sides benefit more in the long run by taking US (and perhaps Canada) off of Oil -- at least for transportation, where most of it just burned away?

Natural Gas is not even really part of the mix other than being used to heat the Tar and help trash Canada in that process.

The issue of the OP is Oil . . . Peak Oil. Oil, which is the present addiction, as it is a liquid fuel for the ICE (internal combustion engine) addiction.

Really not about Natural Gas, at all.

I admit that I kinda laugh when people here cry "we MUST bring back $2 gallon gas!". It's the same people who yell that all those manufacturing jobs that were shipped overseas "need to come back".

Those days are OVER

My goodness . . . a "think" emoticon.

That is fairly comical.

mkay, let's think about that. Back when this pumping and burning Oil stuff began some little over 100 years ago . . . a lot of Oil was near the surface -- sometimes ozzing right out.

Now some trillion barrels pumped and burned later -- that easy Oil is going, going, gone. All that is left is the deep stuff.

As far as the "all the oil at 18 to 20K feet" -- the phrase may better be -- All the Oil that is left is in those hard to get to get spots.

Considering we are willing to go anywhere in the world and lie, cheat, steal and kill for the stuff . . . Not so hard to figure that part out is it? We are going to strip the surface first and work our way down.

So just how much Abiotic Oil do you think is created a year?

Oil will run out one day, but so what......let it. That will simply speed up the implimentation of alternatives. Right now oil is high not because of any "peak" but because it's used as an investment vehicle as opposed to a commodity. If the only people buying into oil were actual users the prices would plummet.
I don't think it will be as easy as you think to switch to "alternatives".

This entire society is built on cheap oil. It's like a giant ponzi scheme. 7 billion people on the planet when it had been around 1 billion for a thousand years. The advent of oil and the population jumped to 7 billion in 100 years. One barrel of oil contains the energy of 14 men working 8 hours a day for a year. Oil is unmatched in efficiency and abundance of any energy. There will be pain when it becomes scarce and there will be starvation on a massive scale.
