Would Teddy Roosevelt get elected today if he ran for President? No promises, no handouts, blue and white collar criminals alike to be tried and convicted. No entitlemets for societys leeches..everyone from the Bed Sty crack ho to the mortgage record falsifying banking cartel. If a presidential candidate today only promised sacrifice for Americans and no entitlements, but was a true man of character who cared for America like a tough love father cared for a son...would he/she have a shot at getting elected?
Not in today's world. Would pull a good percentage of hard-core voters, in a love it or hate it kind of way. Couldn't make the roughly 50% (roughly because of the Electoral "College") of votes needed.
