They do this while the teachers they claim to represent average $44,000 a year. Skip teaching, go to work in the union machine.
I went to a private school and we had the best test scores in the state and the teacher's were not unionized. I don't understand why more parents don't send their children to private schools.

This is what always bother me when people starting ragging on teachers unions or, even at the college level, professors. Teachers and professors do not generally make exorbitant amounts of money. It's at the administrative level, whether in a union or university, that the ridiculous salaries and overall looting begins!
There was at least one private school in my city that only cost 7K a year to attend. I am sure that it was probably better than a public school.
Only?? LOL. You do realize that for many working people that is a lot of money. For a millionaire that is chump change, for someone making 20k a year and paying 10K in rent that is a lot.

DUH> Ever hear of MONEY? Maybe most people can't afford it? Ever think of that?
Of course, your reply was not a serious one - not from one who went to a top school & was Larned Reel Gud!
OH - and lest we forget - only about 1/3 of the teachers in the Country are unionized.

That is significantly less than what my parents paid. I think 7K a year is money well spent to make sure your children get a quality education.
